Lead Programs and Hotlines:
Michigan Lead Hazard Remediation Program (517-335-9390)
These folks run the lead licensing and outreach programs for the state. They can help you find a qualified professional for inspecting or for fixing a problem. They can also give your clients advice on identifying and evaluating lead hazards and on dealing with lead when doing remodeling, restoration or redecorating.
Michigan DNR Environmental Assistance Center (800-662-9278)
Clearinghouse for general environmental questions. If they don't have the answer, they know who does. Examples -- contaminated sites, underground storage tanks, wetland permits,...
Toxic Substance Hotline (800-MI-TOXIC)
Clearinghouse for information and referrals on using and disposing of pesticides and other toxic substances.
Pollution Emergency Alerting System Hotline (800-292-4706)
The environmental equivalent of 911. Hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
